TogoAI is a conversational AI assistant designed to keep Togolese people informed about national news and everyday practical matters, drawing on Togolese press and artificial intelligence technologies.
Access to reliable, contextualized information remains a challenge for many Togolese citizens. Generic conversational assistants, while capable on global topics, generally lack a fine-grained understanding of local news and realities in Togo. TogoAI was built to close that gap, offering a simple interface to ask questions and get answers backed by their sources.
TogoAI relies on a document-retrieval system that draws on publications from Togolese media, updated continuously. When a user asks a question, the assistant identifies the most relevant content and formulates an answer citing its sources, which can be consulted directly from the interface. A real-time search mode is also available for questions about the very latest news.
TogoAI is an independent project developed by Alex, a Professional Bachelor's student in Cybersecurity based in Lomé. The project is currently run on a personal basis, outside of any commercial structure, and offered entirely free of charge. It is an actively developed service: new features and information sources are added progressively.
